The award-winning Regent's Park Open Air Theatre production of Jesus Christ Superstar continues its record-breaking West End run at Theatre Royal Drury Lane, following a sell-out summer season at The London Palladium. Starring Sam Ryder as Jesus in his West End debut.
Legendary actor Glenn Close joins the production as King Herod for its final week, from Monday 4 to Saturday 9 January 2027, bringing the London season to a triumphant close. The three-time Emmy, Golden Globe and Tony Award winner is known on screen for Alex Forrest in Fatal Attraction and Cruella de Vil in 101 Dalmatians, and won a Tony Award for playing Norma Desmond in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Sunset Boulevard.
She joins eight other stars sharing the role of King Herod throughout the run, including Matt Bomer, Rob Brydon, Reece Shearsmith, Bob The Drag Queen, Michael Ball, Simon Russell Beale, Omid Djalili and Layton Williams.
Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's Jesus Christ Superstar follows the events of the last days of the life of Jesus Christ, as seen through the eyes of Judas. Reflecting the rock roots that defined a generation, the legendary score includes 'I Don't Know How to Love Him', 'Gethsemane' and the iconic title number 'Superstar'.
Tim Sheader directs the iconic global phenomenon, with choreography by Olivier Award-winner Drew McOnie and design by Tony and Olivier Award-winner Tom Scutt.
